Escape the beach and head into the cool, green hills of Shimba Hills National Reserve, just
45 minutes from Diani Beach. This tropical forest reserve is a biodiversity hotspot, home to
the rare Sable antelope, elephants, and over 100 species of birds. Enjoy breathtaking views
of the coast, a scenic forest walk to Sheldrick Falls, and a peaceful day surrounded by
nature.
Ideal for nature lovers, photographers, or families seeking a light wildlife adventure without
the long drive.

Safari Itinerary

  • 6:30 AM – Pick-up from your hotel in Diani or Mombasa and drive to Shimba Hills.

 

  • 8:00 AM – Arrive at the reserve and start your guided game drive, spotting elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and the rare sable antelope.

 

  • 10:30 AM – Visit Sheldrick Waterfalls for a scenic nature walk (approximately 2 km) and refreshing photo session.

 

  • 12:00 PM – Relax and enjoy a picnic lunch at the park’s designated picnic site while taking in panoramic views.

 

  • 1:30 PM – Continue your game drive and visit viewpoints overlooking the coastal plains and Indian Ocean.

 

  • 3:00 PM – Begin your return journey from Shimba Hills.

 

  • 4:30 PM – Drop-off at your hotel in Diani or Mombasa.
